MAKATI | Makati, The Urban Metropolis
Architectural Photography
"To me, photography is an art of observation. It's about finding something interesting in an ordinary place... I've found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them." - Elliott Erwitt
Six years ago, I started living in Makati, one of those fresh graduate youngsters who is driven by eagerness to start on their own. Growing up from the the small town City of Roxas in Capiz Province, Manila and the corporate Urban Metropolis of Makati are just one of those I was eager to see and experience up close. Though not in my line of expertise, I find Architecture to be very interesting. The soaring towers and condominiums, the vast malls or luxury hotels, the reflecting glass walls racing up to the sky, and even the wide avenues that are always busy, these things I find fascinating to observe. It is no wonder that once I settled in, I never looked back and in time I called this place my home.
It is not surprising that I built my corporate career in Robinson's
Summit Center, one of those magnificent towers in the midst of Ayala
Ave. It's bluish green bubble of glass all over gave it a cool
appearance while looking indifferent but is never out of place.
Unfortunately, that same colored glass also hindered me from taking a
good enough photograph from its lofty height. I enjoyed the priceless
views of Sunrise, of the slanting light hitting the neighboring towers. But alas, all things do come at an end, just a few months ago, we moved to a new workplace, right smack in Ayala Center Makati. Our office took residence in the newly built Glorietta 1, the very same place were an unforgettable blast a few years back had turned this mall into rubbles, in its place now and soaring high is the Recruitment hub of Sykes Asia Inc., and being that I work in one of their prime accounts, I found myself a new Urban Landscape to ogle.
These
photos I am sharing in here are merely random at different times of
day, when I observe that daylight or the night scape at a given hour
would render it more interesting and out of the ordinary. You may think
of me as a nerd, trying to pull something from the ordinary. I have been busy and out of luck planning any out of town trips recently; I never want it to hinder me in my own personal interest in photography. Realising my amateurish passion, I couldn't help but want to capture the landscape right before me.
