Mountain Views from Mt Mabilog

Not all Mountains would have a 360 degree view where you can expect to witness Sunset and Sunrise spectacles in an overnight camp. Some summits view would be blocked by perhaps another mountain, some would look like a glen or garden, some covered in thick forest of trees, one can't really compare one Mountain to another no matter how similar the trails and challenges they present.

Noting the mountains in Southern Tagalog, literally the one's South of Manila, a scattering of many makes them very attractive to Outdoorsman in training that includes me. From Laguna, to Cavite, to Batangas and even as far as Quezon, these provinces have mountains for minor climbs. What attracted me when I get an invitation from the Adventure Club of JPMC to join a weekend fun climb in Mt Mabilog, in San Pablo, Laguna is that its Summit offers a great view of the Holy Mountain of Mt Banahaw and the Devils Mountain of Mt Cristobal. It's also a taker because 2 of the 7 Lakes of Laguna can be seen from Mt Mabilog that is Lake Pandin and Lake Yambot.

 This was taken on a late afternoon after a slow but fun assault to Mt Mabilog, it captures clouds that are hugging the imposing slopes of the Mt Banahaw.

Mt Mabilog maybe a minor climb that can be made into a day hike. I prefer camping than just making a random visit. Mt Mabilog was only the 5th Mountain I climbed since February of this year, as an adventurer, I don't limit myself to visiting mountains alone, I have to consider possible side trips along with it. By this time, my body is already used to the rigors of climbing mountains, and as always, carrying a heavy camera is not very good, I just have to make a few sacrifices for my photography. Taking photos while hiking is very challenging, I just make do with whatever I can.

These set of photos were taken from the Summit of Mt Mabilog, we camp in the side facing Mt Banahaw and Mt Cristobal. Taken at different intervals from arrival on a late afternoon to the sunrise photos covered in Sea of Clouds.

Using the cut wild grasses as foreground, sea the heavy clouds enveloping the background.

I woke early for this morning shot, showcasing the silhouette of the two adjacent mountains.

Seen here are Lake Pandin and the smaller Lake Yambot after it.
